No starving. No surgery. No hyped-up pills.

We may not yet have the perfect pill that burns fat and keeps you healthy no matter what you do or eat, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t any good options for getting a trimmer body.

For many people, the goal of minimizing body fat without putting in a lot of effort seems impossible. For some, the problem is they can’t seem to start and/or stay on a diet to help lose those extra pounds, while other people have sit-down jobs and either don’t like or don’t have the energy to exercise. And, there are people who eat healthy, work out regularly, but just can’t get rid of the extra fat that has settled in their belly, hips, buttocks, or some other “problem area.”

Often, when I tell people that I’m a cosmetic surgeon and explain that I offer a variety of anti-aging treatments including laser lipolysis, I get a response such as “Oh, lipo. I don’t want any surgery.” Or, “I heard that my skin will sag after having that done.” In talking further, I find that most people, at least 95%, think that laser lipolysis is the same as plastic surgery. They think they will be under anesthesia, and will have long scars where we cut them to get out the fat. Well, those are the old days this is 2015!

Today, we have laser lipolysis, a much more convenient and effective option for reducing body fat.

Laser lipo is a non-invasive method of removing stubborn fat pockets by using a special laser that melts the fat, which is then suctioned out.

Laser lipolysis is great for targeting specific body areas such as the face, neck, arms, knees, bra strap areas, mons pubis, thighs, hips, breasts, and abdomen. It’s great for body sculpting to bring back the smooth curves and symmetry you desire.

A recent patient, “Mariah,” came to me wanted to get rid of the “flab” that hangs over her bra straps, but she didn’t have time for the recovery period following traditional liposuction because she was in the military and about to head out on maneuvers. While she had never heard of laser lipolysis previously, she was anxious to try it after hearing the benefits. She watched the procedure on a screen as we worked and couldn’t believe how quickly the flabby areas melted away. Now a fan of laser lipolysis, she has referred several friends and relatives so they, too, could get rid of their trouble spots.

There are many benefits to laser lipo:

  • It’s done in the physician’s office as out-patient
  • A local anesthetic is used on the treatment area
  • Only very small incisions are made, just big enough to get the laser under the skin
  • Most treatments only take 1-2 hours
  • There’s no real down time – most people go about their activities of daily living as soon as they leave the doctor’s office
  • There is very little chance of complications or side effects
  • Bleeding, swelling, and bruising are minimal
  • The procedure initiates a natural healing process, which results in a tightening of the skin in the treated area, so you don’t have to worry about sagging skin left over
  • If you are looking for a fast, non-surgical body sculpting option, laser lipolysis may be the right choice for you.
